Woburn, MA, February 5, 2008 - BioTrove, Inc. today announced the promotions of Kevin Munnelly and Can "Jon" Özbal, Ph.D. to Vice President and General Manager of the company's OpenArray™ and RapidFire™ divisions, respectively. Reflecting their contributions to recent company growth, Mr. Munnelly and Dr. Özbal are the latest additions to BioTrove's senior management team.

"Both Kevin and Can have dedicated themselves to opening new doors for researchers in industry, government and academia with the OpenArray and RapidFire platforms, and were instrumental in the success of our recent deals with Applied Biosystems, Agilent Technologies, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, top pharmaceutical companies, and many more," said Albert A. "Their unflagging energy and commitment to customers and colleagues alike have shaped this company and we are confident their continued leadership will result in continued growth."
Both Mr. Munnelly and Dr. Özbal bring to their new positions significant industry experience, including recent successes with BioTrove.

With over 15 years experience in molecular biology, chemistry, software, instrument development, and statistical analysis, Mr. Munnelly joined BioTrove in 2005, serving as both OpenArray Business Unit Manager and Senior Director in the Genomics Products division. Prior to BioTrove, he was senior manager of the Platform Technology group at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, and also served as a scientist with Applied Biosystems, where he was involved in the development and commercialization of multiple life science research technologies.

Dr. Özbal, a member of the original BioTrove team, is responsible for much of the RapidFire Lead Discovery development. His extensive background includes bioanalytical chemistry, chromatography, and instrumentation design experience. "As a company committed to providing solutions for our customers' toughest research puzzles, Kevin and Can's dedication make them exemplary members of our team," said Robert H. Ellis, Executive Chairman and President of International Operations and Research Strategy, BioTrove.

"As our business grows, Kevin and Can will continue to play a key role in guiding the development of our two technology platforms."

Mr. Munnelly holds an A.B. with honors from Bowdoin College in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and an MBA, Magna Cum Laude, from Babson College. Dr. Özbal holds an A.B. with honors from Bowdoin College and a Ph.D. in Toxicology from MIT.
